Viel ist über die 'Hermanns-Quelle' nicht bekannt, bzw. nicht herauszufinden.

Die kleine Quelle liegt im Seumepark, welcher 1868 vom Besitzer des Ritterguts in Hohnstädt unter dem Namen 'Platzmannscher Garten' angelgt wurde. In den 1960ern erhielt der Park durch die damalige Besitzerin des Göschenhauses (Renate Sturm-Francke) den Namen 'Seumepark', benannt nach dem deutschen Schriftsteller und Dichter Johann Gottfried Seume (1763-1810), der im Göschenhaus aus und ein ging.

Warum die Quelle 'Hermanns-Quelle' heißt, ist nicht wirklich bekannt. Eine Anwohnerin berichtete mir, dass der Name wohl auf einem Verwandten des ehemaligen Besitzers des Rittergutes 'Theodor Alexander Platzmann' zurückzuführen ist. Diese Information ist jedoch nicht verifiziert. Ihre heutige Form erhielt die Quelle aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach während der Anlegung des Parks 1868. Sie entspringt unter einer kleinen Steinmauer, welche von größeren Steinen umgeben ist. Auf dem zentralen Stein innerhalb der Mauer stehen in weißer Farbe die Worte "Hermanns Quell". Unterhalb der Quelle liegen drei kleine Teiche, welche von dem Quellwasser gespeist werden. In der Vergangenheit wurden dort wohl auch Fische gezüchtet.

Not much is known about the Hermanns-Spring.

The small spring is located in the 'Seumepark', which was lay out under the name 'Platzmannscher Garten' in 1868, by the owner of the manor in Hohnstädt. In the 1960s, the park was named 'Seume Park' by the former owner of the Göschenhaus (Renate Francke Storm). Johann Gottfried Seume (1763-1810) was a German writer and poet and a guest of the Göschenhaus.

Why the spring is named 'Hermanns-Spring' is not really known. A local resident told me that the name is probably due to a relative of the former owner of the manor 'Theodor Alexander Platzmann'. However, this information is not verified. The current form of the spring most probably dates back to the establishment of the park in 1868. The spring rises under a small stone wall, which is surrounded by large stones. On the central stone in the wall are the white words "Hermanns Quell". Below the source, there are three small ponds that are fed from the spring water. In the past, fishes were cultivated there.

The area was clean, trashy ect. Any other knowledge or experiences you have had with this paticular spring that would help document it's history.
