A small red ear slider turtle survived his crossing of FM 922 in rural Cooke County this afternoon, thanks to the efforts of one waymarker.

This is a fairly remote area of Cooke County, but there is still semi-regular traffic here, and our turtle was going to be in big trouble, as a few cars passed by just as I got him to the other side of the road. He didn't squirm too much, and by the time I drove off, he'd crawled into the bushes, a bit closer to his destination.
