It is at the eastern end of the canal branch, near to where it has a junction with the main line of the Lancaster Canal. It stands next to bridge 1 and lock 1, which is known as Glasson Top, on the canal branch.
The Glasson Branch connects the River Lune with the main line of the Lancaster Canal at Ellel and is 2.25 miles long. The link to the sea gives the canal access to sea going vessels.
The map was erected by the Canal and River Trust.
