In 1932, Maurice James Lanham built this mortuary and parlor just to the rear of Letson furniture store, the biggest furniture store in Sparta, WI at the time. Lanham had purchased the furniture store in 1925 from S.C. Letson. In the early 1930's the furniture store was destroyed by fire and Lanham replaced it with the funeral home. The name change took place in 1958 and an addition was added to the original building in 1981. The building itself is considered Art Moderne design. The architect was Otto Merman.
The funeral home itself is a full service funeral home offering cremation and burial services. They have a visitation/service chapel, family room, ADA restrooms, kitchenette, and a fellowship hall for receptions.
This funeral home is a family owned business and is the longest running business in Sparta, WI in operation since 1932.
