A marble plaque states that William Wilton (Snr) was born in Mere, Wiltshire, England in 1820 & died in Mudgee in 1903. His wife Elizabeth died in 1908. Their sons died in 1928 & 1929. There is no mention of John's wife Emily being interred in the vault.

The vault has three ornate plaques at the entrance which may have held photographs or etching of the deceased but are now well worn. The vault is surrounded by a heavy cast iron chain fence. It is the only mausoleum in this large cemetery.
