[EN] Thirteen meters long and 4.40 meters wide, the ship is launched for the first time on the waves in September 1971. It was built in the shipyard for Lefèvre Adolphe Fontaine, now retired from 91 years.
It was a small ship, it was a small ship that had sailed. Ahoy ahoy! And this little ship at the time when it still was sailing on the waves, this small fishing boat called the "Star of the seas", and belonged to Adolphe Fontaine in the 70 "The boat was a Vice chain says the former owner, so I made a gift to the City of Etaples. "Today Adolphe Fontaine 91 years. He lives in a retirement home in Boulogne-sur-Mer. The Star of the seas is a distant memory.
After his short life on the water, the little ship will then become the emblem of the city of fishermen. And that's how the Star of the seas was renamed the "Spatula" and ended up on the roundabout at the entrance to the city.
"Spatula" is none other than the name of Etaples in Viking times there are more than 1 000 years. It is said that renaming a boat is bad luck and that the ocean could engulf the ship. This is however not the ocean that will try to end the beautiful retreat from the small ship. But man.
Crime
The smaller ship has almost no longer be good at all. In 2010, a fire completely ruin the boat. malicious people? It is true that the boat, even in the middle of the roundabout, makes you want to be invested. Fit in, pretending to be a sailor or a fisherman on an evening.
Replay Titanic bow. And an accident or a crime happens so quickly when one is not careful. Still, the little ship is in bad shape. Mayor Jean-Claude Baheux, even the question of whether we should not remove it and replace it with another small boat. But the decision was taken to give new youth "Spatula". This is the team of the shipyard Etaples under the direction of Jerome Ramet who handles give a second life to the wreck. By contacting the son of Adolphe Fontaine, Jean-Pierre. Like the phoenix, the "Spatula" rising from the ashes and still overlooks the sea at the entrance to the city.
» Aujourd'hui Adolphe Fontaine a 91 ans.
