[EN] The fishing port is a four docks around the fish market built in 1987 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. To meet demand from buyers on improving the reception of fishing vessels, auctions Dieppe and Fécamp were networked via an internet system.

[FR] Le port de pêche s'étend sur quatre quais, autour de la criée construite en 1987 par la Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie. Afin de répondre à la demande des acheteurs sur l'amélioration de l'accueil des navires de pêche, les criées de Dieppe et de Fécamp ont été mises en réseau via un système internet.

Il y a 2 navires à la grande pêche,10 navires de pêche côtière, 25 navires de petite pêche. Les volumes débarqués à Fécamp sont de 5 214 tonnes en 2014 contre 4 412 tonnes en 2013 (+18 %). Les prix moyens restent stables. Le nombre d’acheteurs en Criée est toujours en hausse. L’arrivée de 3 bateaux armés à Concarneau a permis d’augmenter les volumes traités sous la halle sur des espèces nobles.

Histoire: au XIXe siècle, il y avait une forêt de mâts

La pêche faisait vivre une grande partie de la population : un métier en mer vaut quatre métiers à terre. Entre 1901 et 1905, on compte 69 trois-mâts immatriculés à Fécamp. Les chantiers de construction navale ne suffisent plus à honorer toutes les commande !

À partir de 1931, les chalutiers remplacent les voiliers et font de Fécamp la capitale des Terre-Neuvas. Mais la réglementation nationale sonne bientôt le glas du Grand Métier, celui de la pêche de la morue à Terre-Neuve et dans le Nord de l’Atlantique. Le dernier grand chalutier « Le Dauphin » quitte le port en 1987.

Les créateurs se sont inspirés de figures de proues de navires vikings représentant des dragons afin de rendre hommage aux marins fécampois, dignes descendants de cette lignée de navigateurs. Initialement implanté dans le cimetière, le monument se trouve aujourd'hui dans le parc de l'arboretum. Chaque année, au mois de février, une cérémonie officielle est organisée à l'occasion de la Saint-Pierre des Marins.
