They are open daily, from 11 AM to 9 PM. This is a good location, in the old Kow Kamp Steakhouse building, just north of Decatur along US 287. While there are plenty of fast food and other restaurant options in Decatur, Leeper Creek should someday be known as a place to stop when making a long haul along US 287. It's worth a few more minutes of driving. It has a rustic interior, very clean, with plenty of seating, and the service is excellent: More often than not, you'll be greeted when you come in, and asked if you know the ropes regarding ordering.

Ordering is cafeteria style. You'll order your meat and then go down the line to pick out your sides, drink, and dessert. Sandwiches, plates, and by-the-pound are your options, and include brisket (chopped and sliced, and they'll ask if you prefer fatty or lean), ribs, ham, pulled pork, sausage (smoked, jalapeño and cheese, and hot links), chicken, and baked potatoes. Smaller portions are available for lunch, as well as for children and seniors. The sides are homemade, and include fries, cole slaw, Bacon Dijon tater salad, pinto beans, and jalapeño mac and cheese.

Those who want a "pig out" option can simply order as much food as they like, by the pound, and you can do a "Gut Buster" to double the meat on any sandwich. Those who are dining on the cheap can order a barbecue sandwich for $5.95.

They have a small beer selection, and soft drinks and the ubiquitous iced tea are available, all available from their self-serve area. If you're dining in, they're great about refilling your drink, which you can take to go with you. Homemade desserts are also available, and you can take your pick from fruit salad or vanilla puddin'.
