"This neighborhood was first established in the early 1600s by Tlaxcalan Indian servants for whom the original San Miguel Chapel was built. Razed during the pueblo revolt in 1680, resettled by families of Spanish soldiers after the De Vargas reconquest of 1693 when the chapel was reconstructed."
