The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), (Australian Government) runs this weather station located on Nelson Head, right beside the "Nelson Head Inner" Lighthouse, on the southern side of Port Stephens.

The white painted, vented meteorological station (Stevenson Screen) sits atop a braced metal frame; with a rain gauge on the top.
