The Wied is a river placed in the Westerwald. Its origin is north of Linden. The total length is 105km although the direct line between origin and confluence is only about 35km. The river passes Altenkirchen and Neustadt/Wied as important build-up areas. It ends in the district Irlich of Neuwied marking the north-end of the park of Neuwied in the river Rhine. The Rhine is second longest river in Europe. Its origin is in Switzerland and flows into Lake Constance touching Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. From there the river continues to the north having France on its westbank and Germany on the east side. After 865 it crosses the border to the Netherlands and the river splits into the Rhine and the Waal and it starts forming its delta. The last segment of the river then ends in the North-Sea after 1036 km lenght after the Lake Constance.
