Jacob Andresen Siemens was born in 1794 at Helgoland and died in London in 1848. The resort was of great importance for the developement of the island.
Andresen had to leave Helgoland in 1846 after a disagreement with the English govenor of the Island. He died two years later in London.
The text of the plaque on the wall says:
"Dem grossen Helgolander
Jacob Andresen Siemens
gründer des seebades
gewidmet von den dank-
baren einwohnern
und freunden der insel
Helgoland, den 9. aug. 1926"
In EnglisH: The big Helgoland citizen Jacob Andresen Siemsens founder of the seaside resort, dedicated from the grateful citizens and friends of the island Helgoland, the 9'th of August 1926".
The text on the stone on the ground says:
