Udvalget og sammensætningen af planter i vådbundsarboretet viser træer og buske, der findes naturligt på fugtige jorder, oftest beliggende lavt i terrænet.
Planterne stammer fra 18 områder inden for tre forskellige verdensdele, samt fra danske naturtyper. Fælles for alle områderne er beliggenheden i det nordlige tempererede klimabælte.

The choice and composition of plants in the wetlands arboretum shows trees and bushes that grow naturally in damp conditions, often in low lying areas. The plants originate from 18 regions within three continents, as well as native Danish species. All regions are within the northerly temperate climate zone.
