Chäppeligraben-Brunnen - Bottmingen, BL, Switzerland - Draw Wells on Waymarking.com

EN: The Chäppeligraben well is located on Banntagsplatz at the western end of the Chäppeligraben near the edge of the forest. Today, there is is a popular picnic area with a fire place right next to it.

The well is fed by a spring and originally belonged to the property of the nearby castle. In 1849, it was sold to the city of Basel, which drained the water to the city and used it to feed various municipal fountains. Since 1943, the well belongs to the community of Bottmingen. A part of the water is now used again for the pond around the moated castle. Maybe the well was renovated in 1982, at least the information sign was added then.

There is plenty of wood, and also some water nn the well shaft, which is secured with a metal grid. But this water is probably not from the original spring.

DE: Der Chäppeligraben-Brunnen befindet sich bein Banntagsplatz am westlichen Ende des Chäppeligrabens in der Nähe des Waldrands. Gleich daneben befindet sich heute ein beliebter Picknickplatz mit Feuerstelle.

Der Brunnen wird von einer Quelle gespeist und gehörte ursprünglich zum Schlossgut. 1849 wurde er an die Stadt Basel verkauft, die das Wasser ableitete und zur Speisung diverser Stadtbrunnen verwendete. Seit 1943 gehört der Brunnen der Bürgergemeinde Bottmingen. Ein Teil des Wassers wird heute wieder für den Teich um das Wasserschloss verwendet. Offenbar wurde der Brunnen 1982 renoviert, jedenfalls stammt das Informationsschild aus diesem Jahr.

Im Brunnentrog, der mit einem Gitter gesichert ist befindet sich neben viel Holz, auch etwas Wasser. Es stammt aber vermutlich nicht von der ursprünglichen Quelle.
