Selon Wikipedia, "Chisasibi est une municipalité de village cri située dans le territoire d'Eeyou Istchee dans le Nord-du-Québec au Canada. Elle est le siège de la Nation crie de Chisasibi.
Le village cri de Chisasibi est situé dans le territoire d'Eeyou Istchee dans la région du Nord-du-Québec au Québec. Le village est situé sur la rive sud de la Grande Rivière sur le littoral est de la baie James à environ 100 km de Radisson et de la route de la Baie James.
À 200 km au nord de Chisasibi, dans la région du Nunavik, à l'embouchure de la Grande rivière de la Baleine, se trouvent le village cri de Whapmagoostui et le village nordique de Kuujjuarapik. Le village cri de Wemindji se trouve à environ 100 km au sud de Chisasibi. Les villes importantes les plus près sont Rouyn-Noranda et Val-d'Or".
Un fait intéressant, la population de Chisasibi habitait à Fort George. En raison de l'inondation des terres autour de la rivière La Grande pour le projet hydroélectrique de la Baie James, la communauté de Fort George a été réinstallée hors de l'île et déménagée dans une nouvelle ville, Chisasibi, à quelques miles de la distance de l'île.

Chisasibi (Cree: Cisâsîpî meaning Great River) is a village on the eastern shore of James Bay, in the Eeyou Istchee territory in northern Quebec, Canada. It is situated on the south shore of La Grande River (the Grand River), less than 10 km (6.2 mi) from the river's mouth. Chisasibi is one of nine Cree villages in the region, and is a member of the Grand Council of the Crees of Quebec. The territory surrounding Chisasibi is part of the Municipality of Baie-James, of which parts are jointly managed with the Cree Regional Authority".
An interesting fact, the population of Chisasibi used to live in Fort George. Due to the flooding of the lands around the La Grande River for the James Bay Hydro-electric project, the Fort George community was resettled off the island and relocated to a new town, Chisasibi, a few miles' distance from the island.
