Originally it was a small chapel outside the city. According to tradition, it was founded by Saint-Ouen. Its existence is attested in 1209.
It was completely rebuilt in 1358 and enlarged in the middle of the 15th century. The naves were extended to the west and a third nave built to the south. At the beginning of the sixteenth century, a shorter fourth aisle was added to the south.
During the revolutionary period, the church was closed, its furniture dispersed and it became a saltpeter factory. It was restored to worship in 1802 and became a parish church in 1829.
It was extensively restored in 1855, the bell tower was rebuilt in 1861, and between 1889 and 1892 the Duthuit brothers financed the restoration of the façade.
The old wooden cradles were replaced by a vault of plastered bricks. The small windows at the base were walled up and replaced by higher windows.
It is made up of three naves vaulted with wood, in the form of church-hall. Houses of report having been built against the walls, the central nave was enhanced in the seventeenth century (1636). Its western gable was wooden.

A l'origine, ce n'était qu'une petite chapelle en dehors de la ville. D'après la tradition, elle aurait été fondée par Saint-Ouen. Son existence est attestée en 1209.
Elle a été entièrement rebâtie en 1358 et agrandie au milieu du XVe siècle. Les nefs furent prolongé vers l'ouest et une troisième nef construite vers le sud. Au début du XVIe siècle, une quatrième nef, plus courte fut adjointe vers le sud.
Pendant la période révolutionnaire, l'église a été fermée, son mobilier dispersé et elle est devenue fabrique de salpêtre. Elle a été rendue au culte en 1802 et est redevenue église paroissiale en 1829.
Elle a abondamment été restaurée en 1855, le clocher remanié en 1861, et, entre 1889 et 1892, les frères Duthuit, financèrent la restauration de la façade.
Les anciens berceaux de bois ont été remplacés par une voûte de briques plâtrées. Les petites fenêtres situées à la base ont été murées et remplacées par des fenêtres plus hautes.
Elle est formée de trois nefs voutées de bois, en forme d'église-halle. Des maisons de rapport ayant été construites contre les murs, la nef centrale a été rehaussée au XVIIe siècle (1636). Son pignon occidental était en pan de bois.
