This memorial is situated in the Angus countryside at a fork of two minor roads near the cottages at Tigerton in the rural community of Menmuir, four miles north-west of the town of Brechin.

The memorial was unveiled in May 1921 by Captain Scott Erskine of Balhall, with a service conducted by the Rev. D A Vipont and the Rev. A Munro.

It is a square Aberdeenshire granite pillar, topped by a lion, with a stepped base with leaded lettering painted black. The inscription on the side reads:

'To the glory of god and in proud and loving memory of those from the parish of Menmuir who fell in the Great War 1914-1919'

On the front face are the following names:

Black Watch: Private David Winter. Private Andrew Todd. Private Ben Taylor. Private George Taylor.

Royal Scots: Private David Birse. Private Roy A Coats.

Gordon Highlanders: Private John Bairner. Private Alexander Taylor. Corporal John Duncan.

Royal Engineers: Lieutenant Corporal David Winter.

R.F.A.: Gunner James Murray.

Motor Machine Gun Section: Gunner Robert Mudie.

Lovat Scouts: Trooper David Haggart.

Canadian Mounted Rifles: Trooper William Garvie.

A & S Highlanders: Private Gregory Duncan.

Cameron Highlanders: Private Don Clyne.

Canadian Exp. Force: Corporal George Anderson.

On the third side is inscribed an addition from World War II:

'Their name liveth for evermore 1939-1945'
