Kempner Park Fountain - Galveston, TX - Converted Fountains on Waymarking.com

"In 1896, a fountain was added at the north end of the property. The fountain was illuminated each night by hundreds of lights and held dozens of varieties of goldfish." (visit link)

It is almost certian that many Galvestonians came to this tree filled park in the early 20th Century.

The fountain head is three tiered, with three basins. Beneath the two lower basins are very detailed bird statues.



Public Notice from the City of Galveston Parks and Recreation Department, dated August 15th, 2016:

Consideration for approval accepting bid to restore/repair the Kempner Park Fountain.

Kempner Park/Garten Verien/Kempner Park Fountain was totally renovated and 1995/96 with a grant from the Kempner Foundation. In April of 2013, McLean Metalworks was hired to create a replica of the current Kempner Park Fountain.

Despite efforts from The Parks and Recreation Department to patch and repair numerous small leaks and cracks of the fountain at Kempner park over the years, there is currently a large leak and growing cracks in the base / pool area of it. This is currently causing water to excessively leak underneath the structure.
