The 19' high, 2000 lb., red ladderback chair has been restored and relocated to the parking lot of LaFlamme, Inc. furniture store in Bennington, VT.

A sign suspended from the seat of the chair gives the history of LaFlamme, Inc. and the ladderback chair. It is inscribed:

Introducing The Chair

Our Story...

In 2002 area natives Christopher and Angela
LaFlamme opened their first store in
Cambridge, NY. After opening stores in
Granville and Whitehall, N.y. they purchased
the former Haynes & Kane building earlier
this year and decided to Bring Back the
Chair
with the help of area businesses and the
support of the public.

The History of The Chair...

Based on an antique tat had been
in his family for generations, the
original Chair was built in 1969 by
Kenneth C. Porter for William
Haynes/ At 2000 pounds, it was the
largest ladderback chair in the world
when first placed at this location. It
was dismantled in 2000 due to its
deteriorating condition.
