I would suggest you read the description of the Trig Point entry and access info. (visit link) As the best access is from the south; but when you get to the cliff face, go west, and NOT east, before heading north.

At the stone cairn, and wooden post Trigonometric Station of Goonook Trig, you will find an ammo tin, for a geocache, and it has been continuously used as a Summit Register. Unfortunately many of the Duke of Edinburgh groups have 'only' written their participant's names, and not the date that they were there.

** Caution: not highly recommended in Summer time, as there is extra risk of Death Adders hiding under the ferns - you mostly cannot see the ground. **
