Well, personally this BEAUTIFUL waterfall would not have ever been seen (by me!) except that a MicroAdventure geocaching Event was being held here on Saturday, 28 May, 2016. Being a D4 / T5 rated Event, and being on holidays already in Victoria (I had hoped to actually be in Tasmania for a theatre nurses conference, but that is another story), I made up my mind to make sure that I Attended. Check out GC6FY4A: (visit link)

One of the variables is, can you walk behind the Waterfall, well, I put Partial, as there a geocache placed 'halfway down' the waterfall, from which I used the coordinates: (visit link) "Caches of Ice and Fire: Mother of Mountains". BUT, please NOTE, it is rated D5 / T5. You will need Detailed knowledge AND experience, of how to abseil, AND how to prussik back up again! The Event cache gives the following coordinates for a good place to view the waterfall: S37° 2.760' E146° 37.315'
* Please let me know if these are the coordinates that you used to view the falls from above. *

Probably the BEST view of the waterfall though is from directly opposite on the approach road to Lake Cobbler, as then you see the whole waterfall, and especially the bench halfway down, where the water 'disappears', only to fall again! Parks Victoria (the National Park body of Victoria) on their website for Lake Cobbler Camping Area - (visit link) , gives the height of the Dandongadale waterfall as 255 metres.

Access: best from Whitfield, on dirt roads, most 2wds can drive on. Other access tracks probably need a 4wd.

Viewpoint: Truly, the BEST viewpoint is at the middle, but you won't be able to see the bottom, unless you are hanging over on a rope, so I won't prompt you to do that. Or rather, as a 'car chair' viewer, from the opposite of the valley on the entry road.
