"This dome is a replica of domes built in 1974 to grow seedlings for the new UCSC Arboretum. Dean McHenry was personally involved in planting and organizing the Arboretum as well as starting the docent program. The geodesic dome greenhouses were nurseries for rare conifers, desert and tropical plants. You can still visit them today at the Arboretum."
