The new St Patrick's Cathedral replaced the former which was destroyed by a tornado in May 2005, the present Cathedral was constructed over 5 years and opened on March 17th 2011 by the fourth Bishop of Bunbury, Gerard Holohan. Inside the building are the original foudation stone dating back to 1921 for St Patrick's Church, the rededication stone from 1954 when the church became a cathedral and the dedication stone from the opening of the new cathedral, also incorporated in the building are eleven stained glass windows salvaged prior to the demolition of the revious cathedral.
