The Old Stone Mill is the only surviving pre-1812 grist mill in Ontario. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1970 and in 1978 it was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.
The mill is open daily between the May long weekend and Labour Day - admission is free although donations are very much appreciated since the DMS self funds the maintenance and operation of the mill, they depend on public support to stay open. They are also open on special occasions.
Today they grind organically grown heritage Red Fife wheat (an Ontario heritage wheat) into flour (available in the gift shop). It's well worth a visit as you tour this part of Old Ontario.
