Giant Hammer Crushes Car - Houston, TX - Roadside Attractions on Waymarking.com

This life-size sculpture of a giant hammer crushing a car can be found at the front entrance of "Southern Core Recycling", a recycling company located by Fallbrook Dr. in Northwest Houston, TX.

Up until 2013, the sculpture was located by an auto salvage yard a few miles south of this location. At that time, the yellow car had several decorative features which enhanced the overall comical nature of its appearance: it had a lolling tongue sticking out of the radiator and cartoon eyes pasted on top of its headlights. These additional features are now unfortunately no longer present, although a picture of how it used to look like can be found here.

The auto salvage yard closed in 2013 and for a while the hammer & car were nowhere to be found. It recently moved at this location to promote the business of "Southern Core Recycling", and is still worth a quick detour whenever in the general vicinity (as it's not too far from a major often-used highway here in town).
