Am 7. Oktober des Wende-Jahres 1989 erlebte die Friedliche Revolution in Plauen ihren Auftakt. Hier ist es zur ersten Großdemonstration in der DDR gekommen, die von den Sicherheitskräften nicht mehr aufgelöst werden konnte.

Das Denkmal wurde am 20 Jahrestag anläßlich der Erinnerung an diese Zeit feierlich gewidmet.

On the 7th of October of the turn of the year 1989, the Peaceful Revolution in Plauen got its kick-off. Here it came to the first mass demonstration in the GDR, which could not be resolved by the security forces.

The monument was solemnly commemorated on the 20th anniversary of the memory of that time.
