This small memorial stone commemorates the 150th anniversary of a group of Welsh people who emigrated to Patagonia from the port of Liverpool.

The stone has a bi-lingual plaque and a carving of the sailing ship Mimosa on which they sailed. It is in the redeveloped area of Princes dock, from where the Mimosa sailed.

Cofnoda'r gofeb hon ymadawiad y llong hwylio 'Mimosa' o Lerpwl ar 28 Mai 1865, yn cludo 162 o Gymry (gan gofio hefyd y tri acth allan o'u blaen). Glaniwyd ym Mhorth Madryn, Patagonia, ar 28 Forffennal 1865. Yno sefydhvyd gwladfa Gymreig sy 'n bodoli hyd heddie.
This plaque records the departure from Liverpool of the sailing ship 'Mimosa' on 28 May 1865, with 162 Welsh people (remembering also the three who went out before them). They landed at Port Madryn, Patagonia on 28 July 1865 where they established a Welsh speaking settlement which survives to this day.
