The Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank (BLKB) has set up 150 benches with historical information throughout the canton of Basel-Landschaft for its 150th anniversary. Each bank contains a different year and a sign with historical information about the place.

The text:

"Bottmingen - 1960

After the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century, the Alemanni crossed the Rhine and some of them came along the stream also to Bottmingen. It is likely that they came from Linzgau north of Lake Constance. From much later time comes a Bijou of Bottmingen, which is widely known and appreciated: The Weiherschloss. Moated castles all have a ditch, but not all are filled with water any more. The moated castle of Bottmingen is the only castle left in the whole canton, whose moat is constantly supplied with fresh water by its location on the creek. The castle never had juridication or property rights to the rest of the village; the first owners are the chamberlains testified in 1363. Its current baroque shape was created in the 18th century. It has been under state protection since 1938 and has been owned by the canton since 1957.

(150 benches have been donated by the Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. All bear a year from the year of foundation 1864 until the year of the anniversary in 2014.)"

"Bottmingen - 1960

Nach dem Untergang des Römischen Reiches im 5. Jahrhundert kamen die Alemannen über den Rhein und einige von ihnen gelangten dem Wasserlauf entlang auch nach Bottmingen. Es gilt als wahrscheinlich, dass sie vom Linzgau nördlich des Bodensees her kamen. Aus viel späterer Zeit stammt ein Bijou Bottmingens, das weit herum bekannt und geschätzt ist: Das Weiherschloss. Weiher- oder Wasserschlösser haben alle einen Graben, aber längst nicht mehr jeder ist auch mit Wasser gefüllt. Das Schloss Bottmingen ist das einzige Schloss im ganzen Kanton, dessen Anlage durch seine Lage am fliessenden Gewässer fortwährend frisch versorgt wird. Das Schloss hatte nie herrschaftliche Rechte am Dorf; als erste Besitzer sind 1363 die Kämmerer bezeugt. Seine barocke Gestalt erhielt es im 18. Jahrhundert. Seit 1938 steht es unter Schutz und seit 1957 ist es im Besitz des Kantons.
