This pillar is situated 726 metres up on the Hill of Glansie amidst the heathery moorland of the foothills of the eastern Grampian Mountains. It stands on the watershed between the Angus glens of Ogil, to the south and Lethnot to the north-east. Views to the south are extensive over the lowlands as far as the Lothians on a clear day, to the north however, the higher ground restricts views greatly. The pillar has a distinct crack at the level of the flushbracket.

STEEPNESS: A good climb from any direction, however the many bulldozed tracks take the least steep routes.

TERRAIN: Being in the heart of grouse shooting country, many ATV tracks have sprung up around the area, the pillar is situated only feet to the south of one of them. Otherwise the going is on shortish heather with the odd eroded peat hag.

ACCESSIBILITY: Reachable from the glens of Lethnot, three miles to the north-east, Ogil, four miles to the south, and Moy, four miles to the south-west. All carry tracks into the hills, but should be avoided during the grouse shooting season.

NAVIGATION: The abundance of tracks make the going easy, but most of them are unmarked on maps. The pillar can be spotted on the plateau from some way off in clear conditions.

DANGER: There are numerous electric fences to be avoided.

Type of Trigpoint: Triangulation Pillar

Condition: Slightly Damaged

Number on Flush Bracket: S6946
