These gardens and plaque are located in Hamilton, Ontario in a small parkette at the corner of Bay and Hunter. They are dedicated to Patriarch Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch who visited the city on Friday, May 29th 1998.

Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch
Friday, May 29th 1998
Known in Europe as the "Green Patriarch", because of his concern for the environment. His All Holiness is the spiritual leader of 300 million Orthodox Christians worldwide including members of our own Greek, Ukrainian, Russian, Serbian, Romanian and other Orthodox communities.
Christian and non-Christian faith communities gathered on this sun drenched day to welcome our very special guest."
