The Wiedweg is a hiking path which runs near river Wied in the Westerwald, a mountain-area in the west of Germany. The Wied das is origin at the Dreifelder Weiher, an artifical lake near Dreifelden. The distance of the river is about 100 km and is running through the Westerwald. Its starts flowing to north-west. After 30 km in turns in direction southeast and its last third it goes to the south. It confluences into the river Rhein at Neuwieds district Irlich. It is suggested to divide the complete hike into 8 stages each having a distance of 8 to 15km. The hike passes many sightseeings and you can start extra-tours to explore the area. But just walking on the route is a great fun. My personal preference is to hike in September and the beginning of October when temperatures are mild and the forest are nicely colored. My recommondation is to visit the area between Neustadt and Neuwied, but you may think different, try it out.

The tracks of the stages can be found on the web-link shown below. You can choose to start at the source of the Wied or at its end. The signs shows you both directions.
