Location of field: E. 2nd St., N. of old high school building, Washington
Built: 1887
This field once had benches, and dug outs (you can see the foundation stumps sill remaining).
Whether the field was cut out back then....who knows...today the backstop remains, although very rusty, and the is level and cared for.
Assumed still be ing used, either for soccer or some ball...a port-a-potty is located near the backstop.
"The largest building in the district, the Washington High School, was built in 1887. The
building, which was designed by Washington native Louis Wilhemi was built as a private high
school by a group of local investors. It was purchased by the local school board in 1900 and
became the public high school. Today, the building is used by the Washington Board of
Education." ~ NRHP Nomination Form
