On the grounds of the physics institute Jungiusstraße one remembers the physics Nobel laureate Otto Stern, where he worked from 1923 until his immigration to America in 1933.

Stern received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1943 as "recognition of his contribution to the development of the molecular beam method and his discovery of the magnetic moment of the proton". The directional quantization was not mentioned, but the reviewer Erik Hulthén emphasized in a contribution on the Swedish radio in December 1944, especially the direction quantization. Between 1901 and 1950 Otto Stern was the most nominated for the Nobel Prize physicist with 82 nominations.

In addition to the plaque, the lecture hall 2 has been named after Otto Stern.
