Der San Antonio Vulkan brach letztmalig zum Jahreswechsel 1677 / 1668 aus. Bei diesem Ausbruch der an 3 Stellen des Vulkans passierte flossen insgesamt 7 Lavaströme zur Küste. Dort bildete sich in der Folge eine große neue Landfläche. Teile dieser Lavaströme wurden 1971 durch den Ausbruch des darunterliegenden Vulkan Teneguia verdeckt. Das Alter des Vulkans wird auf über 3000 Jahre geschätzt. Seine Höhe beträgt 632 Meter.
Direkt am Vulkan ist ein Besucherzentrum mit Kaffeebar eingerichtet. Ausreichend Parkplätze sind vorhanden. Der Zugang zum Vulkan ist nur über das Besucherzentrum möglich. Der Eintrittspreis beträgt zur Zeit 5,00 € pro Person. Das Besucherzentrum beinhaltet ebenfalls eine sehr gute Ausstellung zum Vulkan.
Der Kraterrand ist zur Hälfte begehbar. Von hier hat man einen tollen Blick in den Krater und auf den unterhalb liegenden Vulkan Teneguia.
Bei dem Ausbruch wurde die heilige heiße Quelle, die die Namensgeberin des Ortes Fuencaliente (auf deutsch heiße Quelle) ist, verschüttet. Jahrhunderte lang wurde diese Quelle gesucht. In der Zwischenzeit wurde ein Teil auch wieder gefunden. Zugang für die Öffentlichkeit besteht allerdings nicht, da sich die Inselregierung der Kanaren und die Gemeinde nicht über die Verteilung der Einnahmen und Kosten einigen können.

The San Antonio volcano erupted for the last time at the turn of 1677/1668. In this eruption, which took place in 3 places of the volcano, a total of 7 lava flows flowed to the coast. There was formed in the episode a large new land area. Parts of these lava flows were covered in 1971 by the eruption of the volcano Teneguia, which is located below the volcano San Antonio. The age of the volcano is estimated at over 3000 years. Its height is 632 meters.
Directly at the volcano there is a visitor center with coffee bar. Parking is available. Access to the volcano is only possible through the visitor center. The entrance fee is currently € 5.00 per person. The visitor center also includes a very good exhibition on the volcano.

The eruption of the volcano spilled the holy hot spring that gave Fuencaliente its name (Fuencaliente means hot spring). For centuries, this source was sought. In the meantime, a part was also found again. However, there is no public access as the Canary Islands Government and the municipality can not agree on the distribution of revenue and costs.
