Antioch is a ghost town, with only a few residents remaining. It is located at the intersection of Antioch Road (CR E1580) and Highway 74, approximately 7 miles south of Maysville. This bell is mounted in front of the school which was built in 1929 and operated until 1962. The bell once rung in the earlier schoolhouse that this building replaced. The school district began its operation in 1908.
This is a No. 22 bell and we could not find its manufacturer. It hangs from its yoke, which is supported by a metal frame. A rope is attached to the wheel so it can be rung. The school building currently houses the local senior citizens center.
