Hommage au soldat Michaux
Après avoir photographié un petit soldat de plomb, Georges Rousse peint la silhouette surdimensionnée de la figurine sur les murs d’un couloir courbe. Les formes sont déformées, mais l’anamorphose opère. L’illusion est parfaite quand le spectateur emprunte le couloir. L’ombre du soldat apparaît courbé et armé. L’intérieur de la forme est constitué du texte du journal laissé par le Brigadier Michaux.

L'artiste
Georges Rousse est né en 1947 à Paris où il vit et travaille. Depuis le Noël de ses 9 ans où il reçut en cadeau le mythique Brownie Flash de Kodak, l'appareil photo ne l'a plus quitté. Alors qu'il est étudiant en médecine à Nice, il décide d'apprendre chez un professionnel les techniques de prise de vue et de tirage puis de créer son propre studio de photographie d'architecture. Mais bientôt sa passion le pousse à se consacrer entièrement à une pratique artistique de ce médium sur la trace des grands maîtres américains, Steichen, Stieglitz ou Ansel Adams. C'est avec la découverte du Land Art et du Carré noir sur fond blanc de Malevitch que Georges Rousse choisit d'intervenir dans le champ photographique établissant une relation inédite de la peinture à l'espace. Il investit alors des lieux abandonnés qu'il affectionne depuis toujours pour les transformer en espace pictural. Pour Emines, Georges Rousse investit pas moins de 3 espaces pour mettre en place des anamorphoses qui convoquent mémoire du lieu et souvenirs personnels.

Cette oeuvre est visible dans le Fort d'Emines, accessible uniquement lors de journées avec visite guidée.

Tribute to Private Michaux
After photographing a small lead soldier, Georges Rousse painted the oversized silhouette of the figure on the walls of a curved corridor. The forms are distorted, but the anamorphosis occurs. The illusion is perfect when the spectator walks down the corridor. The soldier's shadow appears bent and armed. The inside of the form consists of the text of the newspaper left by Brigadier Michaux.

The artist
Georges Rousse was born in 1947 in Paris where he lives and works. Since the Christmas of his 9th birthday when he received the mythical Brownie Flash from Kodak as a gift, the camera has never left him. While studying medicine in Nice, he decided to learn photography and printing techniques from a professional and then to create his own architectural photography studio. But soon his passion pushed him to devote himself entirely to an artistic practice of this medium in the footsteps of the great American masters, Steichen, Stieglitz or Ansel Adams. It is with the discovery of Land Art and the Carré noir on a white background by Malevitch that Georges Rousse chose to intervene in the photographic field, establishing a new relationship between painting and space. He then invested abandoned places that he had always loved in order to transform them into pictorial spaces. For Emines, Georges Rousse invests no less than 3 spaces to set up anamorphoses that evoke the memory of the place and personal memories.

This work is visible in the Fort of Emines, accessible only on special days with a guided tour.
