The Buchanan State Forest was named after the 15th president of the United States and the only president to have been born in Pennsylvania, James Buchanan. The forest covers three counties with its park office located in Fulton County.

The tiny park office includes a colorful nature center as you walk in the doors. A young black bear climbs a tree overlooking the tree display which defines the different types of rings found in a tree.
