EN: The Fricktal is generally regarded as the area of the two Aargau districts Rheinfelden and Laufenburg (There exists also a different geographic definition, which also includes some communities in the district of Brugg north of Bözberg). Today they are simply two of the eleven districts of the canton of Aargau and they no longer form an official unit. However, because of their history the two districts are very different from the rest of the canton in culture and mentality and are still generally referred to this common term inside and outside.
The center of Fricktal is located in the farming area on the plateau north of Schupfart. A short path branches off a street, at the end of which there are two benches and a memorial stone under a few trees.
The stone contains a bronze plate with the outlines of the two districts and their center, the coat of arms of the two districts and a third, slightly larger coat of arms. This coat of arms is that of the former canton Fricktal, but also that of the municipality of Schupfart, which one is meant, is not sure.

Dear Wanderer, here you are at the center of Fricktal.
The Fricktal - the today's districts of Rheinfelden and Laufenburg - belonged until the year 1801 to the Further Austrian empire.
1802-1803, a sovereign Helvetian canton with its own constitution and coat of arms (linden leaf). By Napoleon Bonaparte assigned to the then newly created canton of Aargau in 1803.
The center of political Fricktal was calculated on the occasion of the 700 years anniversary of the Swiss Confederation in 1991."
DE: Das Fricktal wird allgemein als das Gebiet der beiden Aargauer Bezirke Rheinfelden und Laufenburg betrachtet (Es gibt auch noch eine abweichende geographische Definition, die zusätzlich noche einige Gemeinden des Bezirks Brugg nördlich des Bözbergs beinhaltet). Heute sind es einfach zwei der elf Bezirke des Kantons Aargau und es bildet keine offizielle Einheit mehr. Die beiden Bezirke unterscheiden sich aber bis heute durch ihre Geschichte in Kultur und Mentalität stark vom Rest des Kantons und werden allgemein inner- und ausserhalb noch mit diesem gemeinsamen Begriff bezeichnet.
Der Mittelpunkt des Fricktals befindet sich in der Landwitschaftszone auf der Hochebene nördlich von Schupfart. Ein kurzer Weg zweigt von einer Strasse ab, an dessen Ende sich unter ein paar Bäumen zwei Sitzbänke und dieser Gedenkstein befinden.
Der Stein enthölt eine Bronze-Platte mit den Umrissen der zwei Bezirke und dem Mittelpunkt, den Wappen der beiden Bezirke und ein drittes, etwas grösseres Wappen. Dieses Wappen ist das des ehemaligen Kantons Fricktal, aber auch das der Gemeinde Schupfart, welches gemeint ist, lässt sich nicht entscheiden.

Das Fricktal - die heutigen Gemarkungen der Bezirke Rheinfelden und Laufenburg - gehörte bis zum Jahre 1801 zum vorderösterreichischen Kaiserreich.
1802-1803 souveräner helvetischer Kanton mit eigener Verfassung und Wappen (Lindenblatt). Durch Napoleon Bonaparte 1803 dem damals neugeschaffenen Kanton Aargau zugeordnet.
Der Mittelpunkt des politischen Fricktals wurde berechnet aus Anlass des Jubbiläums 700 Jahre schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft 1991."
