Schooner Weathervane - Walpole Town Hall - Walpole, MA - Unique Weathervanes on Waymarking.com

In Walpole, along School Street, is the Walpole Town Hall, which has a weathervane on top of a cupola which features a detailed schooner.

The town hall is behind the row of stores and is on the other end of a parking lot. The building is a long, multi-story building rectangular in shape. In the center is the cupola and the weathervane above that.

The weathervane is in the shape of a two-masted schooner. The hull is clearly visible, as are the masts. There are also strings indicating rigging. Below are the cardinal points, and below that is a metal sphere.

I could not find much else about the weathervane. I do know that at one time, the Kendall Family ran a Whaling museum in town - now part of the whaling museum in New Bedford. It's a guess that this weathervane is related to that.

This is a nice weathervane, Unfortunately, it looks like it is a little ragged, with some of the rigging hanging.
