Obst als Kulturgut von Kettig • Dank der klimatisch günstigen Lage des Ortes im Neuwieder Becken haben die Einwohner von Kettig seit jeher erfolgreich Landwirtschaft betrieben. In ei-ner alten Chronik wird darüber berichtet:
„Das Ackerland erträgt gute Früchte von allerhand Sorten, besonders viele Bohnen werden hier gezo-gen und nach den Niederlanden verkauft. Die eben-so guten Wiesen werden durch den Bach gewäs-sert, welcher einhalb Stunde oberhalb Kettig und unten sich gleich in die Wiegen verliert. Von Kettig bis anden Weißen Turm läuft eine Aljöne Anhö-he. Der weiße Wein, der dort wächst, ist in guten Jahren vor-trefflich. Die Untertanen Vagen mehrenteils ihre Pro-dukte als Milch, Obst, Gemüse fast alle Tage nach Andemach und Neuwied auf den Markt und sind mehrentee Wohlhabende, weil sie sparsam leben' Noch heute werden die Außenbereiche der Ge-meinde intensiv von zehn Haupterwerbslandwirten und vielen Nebenerwerbern bewirtschaftet. In den vergangenen Jahrzehnten wurden viele Sonder-kulturen wie Süß- und Sauerkirschen, Äpfel, Stein-obst uncl Erdbeeren angelegt. Zuletzt kam vermehrt Holunder hinzu, der naturnah bewirtschaftet wird. Der Lehrgarten ist ein Ort der Entspannung, der Ihnen ermöglicht die vielfältigen hiesigen otke-orten kennen zu lernen. Fruit as a cultural asset of Kettig • Thanks to the favorable climatic location of the village in the Neuwied basin, the inhabitants of Kettig have always been successful in farming. In an old chronicle it is reported:
"The farmland bears good fruits from all sorts of varieties, especially many beans are moved here and sold to the Netherlands. The equally good meadows are watered by the stream, which loses half an hour above Kettig and below immediately into the cradles. From Kettig to the White Tower runs an Aljöne Anhö -he. The white wine that grows there is excellent in good years. The subjects more often market their produce than milk, fruit, vegetables almost every day to Andemach and Neuwied, and are multi-affluent because they live sparingly. "Even today, the outdoor areas of the township are intensely populated by ten mainstream farmers and many sidelineers farmed. In recent decades, many special crops such as sweet and sour cherries, apples, stone fruit and strawberries have been created. Most recently, elderberry was added, which is cultivated close to nature. The Lehrgarten is a place of relaxation that allows you to get to know the many local otke places. Take a look!
