Bristow VFW Post 3656 maintains a large memorial park where you will find displays of various military equipment, and specific memorials. This memorial honors U.S. Naval personnel who gave their lives for their country.
The memorial displays the hatch cover from the USS Batfish, which is currently open for the public in Muskogee.

USS Batfish SS 310 is dedicated to the
men of the U.S. Navy who have given their
lives in defense of their country.
VFW Post 3656
The USS Batfish was constructed in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine and launched May 5, 1943. She was awarded six battle medals for her WWII service and was decommissioned April 16, 1946 to become a training vessel. She was recommissioned March 7, 1952 and served in training operations in the Caribbean and East Coast and was assigned to the Atlantic Reserve Fleet for training and research. She was removed from the Naval Registry November 1, 1969 after 26 years of service.
