King Sejong the Great (April 10, 1397 - Feb. 17, 1450) was not only the inventor of the Korean alphabet, but also encouraged advances in science and technology.
In front of the statue are also some replicas of objects made during his reign. You will find a sundial, a water clock and a Armillary Sphere.
The sundial is a large gold-colored metal bowl on 4 legs.
Inside the scale, an hour division is visible.
The shadow is framed by a flame-like protruding object.
