"Als een laatste tastbare herinnering aan het oude dorpje Haarzuilens vindt men naast het kasteel de Kapel. Van het bestaan van deze Kapel wordt voor het eerst rond 1420 melding gemaakt, maar het is aannemelijk dat de Kapel nog ouder is; de toren bevat nog bouwresten van oudere datum. Ondanks dat de bevolking van Haarzuilens door de eeuwen heen in overgrote meerderheid rooms-katholiek gebleven is, ging de Kapel in de tijd van de Reformatie over in protestantse handen.
In de loop van de 17e eeuw raakt het gebouw meer en meer in verval. Nadat in 1703 een gedeelte van het dak instort, gebruiken de bewoners Haarzuilens de toren en het restant van het schip als stal en opslagplaats. Toch zullen tot diep in de 19e eeuw onder de resten van het ruwe houten dak van het schip nog details van het gotisch houten tongewelf duidelijk zichtbaar blijven.
Baron Etienne van Zuylen besluit in 1892 niet alleen zijn voorvaderlijk kasteel te laten herbouwen, maar tegelijkertijd ook de Kapel als Slotkapel te laten restaureren. Het koor en het schip worden vrijwel vanaf de grond opgebouwd, terwijl in het transept nog oud muurwerk verwerkt wordt. Het geheel wordt in neogotische stijl uitgevoerd. Tijdens de bouwactiviteiten stuit men op stoffelijke resten van onder andere voorouders van de baron in speciaal ontworpen grafkisten.
De wanden worden gesierd door een bonte reeks heiligenbeelden, stammend uit diverse eeuwen. De oudste beelden stammen vermoedelijk al uit de 14e eeuw. Onder de sacristie is in de jaren vijftig een ruime grafkelder aangelegd. Diverse leden van de familie Van Zuylen hebben er inmiddels hun laatste rustplaats gevonden. De tombes zijn met veelkleurig marmer ingelegd.
Tegenwoordig is het mogelijk de Kapel te huren als trouwlocatie. De eeuwenoude, sfeervolle Kapel wordt gekenmerkt door sereniteit en elegante eenvoud. De glas-in-loodramen, de middeleeuwse heiligenbeelden en de kleurige beschilderingen zorgen voor een heel bijzondere sfeer. In de kapel kunnen 120 gasten plaatsnemen."

The walls are decorated with a colorful series of statues of saints, dating from various centuries. The oldest statues probably date from the 14th century. A spacious burial vault was constructed under the sacristy in the 1950s. Various members of the Van Zuylen family have now found their final resting place there. The tombs are inlaid with multi-colored marble.
Nowadays it is possible to rent the Chapel as a wedding location. The centuries-old, atmospheric Chapel is characterized by serenity and elegant simplicity. The stained glass windows, the medieval statues of saints and the colorful paintings create a very special atmosphere. The chapel can accommodate 120 guests."
