Near the intersection of Irene Street and Wymston Parade, but on the Parramatta River side of the road, is a printed metal sign that has a copy of a drawing of a Bar-tailed Godwit, done by a student (Hannah) of the nearby Abbotsford Public School. "Bar-tailed Godwits are at risk of wetland pollution." These are migratory birds, that regularly fly from the Arctic Circle, to feed on the nearby mudflats of Hen and Chicken Bay. The premise of this sign is that when dogs chase the feeding birds that they won't be able to eat enough to make a return trip, and the 'request is': "Please keep your dog's feet dry and our Godwits safe."

It then gives a couple of Off-Leash Dog Areas, where your dog can exercise without disturbing these birds.
