It is an excellent local example of the Mission/Spanish Colonial Revival style. This was the home ofThomas (Tom) Faust, secretary and treasurer of the Fuchs Bakery. The Faust House was constructed ca. 1926 for Tom and Mary Faust. The Fausts moved to Homestead from West Virginia when Tom was offered the position of secretary-treasurer of the Fuchs Baking Company by his brother-in-law Charles Fuchs, Jr.
Although modest in scale, the Thomas Faust House is a significant local example of the Mission/Spanish Colonial Revival style. This architectural expression gained great popularity in Florida during the Boom years, and continued in favor into the 1930s and 1940s. Many examples of the style in Homestead have been lost to demolition.
