GALVESTON, Texas – Several anonymous Galveston residents paid for a rainbow crosswalk to be painted in the city to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

The crosswalk is being painted along 25th Street at Ball, and 25th Street at Sealy Street. The rainbow pays homage to the local LBGTQ+ community during June, which is Pride Month.
The City of Galveston posted on its Facebook page that the community is welcoming to everyone.

"Thanks to the work of several individuals in the community, a new rainbow crosswalk is being painted at 25th and Ball and 25th and Sealy streets to celebrate LGBT Pride Month this June and show Galveston is a welcoming community to all.”

June marks the celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Pride month and the city of Galveston is gearing up for the national celebration.
Officials shared photos via Facebook of the city's new rainbow crosswalk being painted at 25th and Ball and 25th and Sealy streets Tuesday. Officials said the city granted permission of the use of the right of way and that the crosswalk is a privately-funded effort "by individuals in the community."
"No city funds or labor are being used toward the crosswalk," officials said in the post.”
The crosswalk is a way for the city to support Pride month and "show Galveston is a welcoming community to all," officials said.
