When the Visitor Information Centre opened in August 1997 it was right beside the busy Pacific Highway, and prior to the new highway bypass opened it serving 50,000 visitors. Along with information on places to visit in the area it also made train bookings, and had light refreshments and coffee. The plan at the 20th anniversary in 2017 is to take on bike hiring, and local tours. [ex-Bellingen News: (

It is now also a coach terminal, and has normal bike tenders. Near the car park is a Civic Guide style map, showing the Coffs Coast and local attractions.
