The woods were once part of the local Tehidy estate which was owned by the Bassett family. Who were or had interests the tin mining of this area. They did however reinvest a lot back into the local community, including schools, hostels etc.
There are three car parking areas North, South and East and trails going throughout the woods. There are various walks and distances all of which are clearly marked.
The central area has a large lake with various aquatic birds, some native and some visitors
There is permitted walking, Horse, and cycling
Dogs are allowed
There are restriction on certain areas,for dogs etc, which are clearly marked.
