Monument for Mrs. Katherine Rooper (d.1606) against the north wall of the chancel of St Laurence's church, Leaveland. Married first to Thomas Herdson, esq. and secondly to Edward Rooper, esq. with her figure kneeling at a desk, behind her a man in armour.

The inscription reads -
Here lies a wight, whose vertues merete praise:
a maide, a wife, a viddowe, in her dayes,
modest, faithfull, well reported of all
whom God from earth to heaven did sweetely call.
Clos by, lies her deare sonne Francis by name,
Ruth, cutt of his youth, which all men doth tame,
Mother and child lye lowe in the earthen part:
to the devine, god doth joyes impart.

A memoriall of Katherine Rooper, widdowe descended on the familie of the
Whithornes in Sommerset shire: First married unto Thomas Harrison esq,
by whom she had issue 2 daughters Barbara and Anne being twins who dyed
in their infancie, and one sonne Francis who attaining unto the
age of 35 yeares dyed the 13th day of Decemb A°.D°. 1606 and lyeth here buried.
Secondly she was married unto Edmund Rooper Esq by whom she had noe issue.
