"Church of St. Margaret 26.4.68. II Parish church. C12, C14 and C15, restored 1882-3 by Clarke. Nave flint, north wall incorporating a few lumps of tufa. Chancel flint rubble with small amounts of thin red brick or tile interspersed. Plain tiled roof. Wood shingles to spire of tower. Nave, chancel, and north tower at west end of chancel. Nave: plinthless and gabled, with diagonal buttresses. C14 west window and restored C14 south window. North wall has one C14 window. C19 chimney stack towards east end. C19 timber-framed south porch on stone-dressed flint plinth. Small blocked C12 north doorway of 3 orders, with roll to central order. 3 scalloped capitals each side, with ringed base to central one. Chancel: lower roof than nave, but aligned. Stone-coped flint plinth to east end. Two C15 south windows. C19 east window in a C15 style. West tower: 2 stages on a short plinth, with shingled broach spire. 4 small hipped lucarnes with scalloped louvres. C19 lancet-type windows except north window of lower stage which incorporates a, probably re-used,Medieval trefoiled head. Interior: not inspected. J. Newman ( Buildings of England Series, North East and East Kent, 1969) notes C14 chancel arch and rare late C12 lead font with repeating leaf decoration."
